Animal print designs by MOG Couture

The 5th edition of Brad’s fashion show finally, after much hype and waiting, went down on Saturday the 14th at Michael Joseph’s Centre in Nairobi. Debuting in 2014, the show has been the perfect haven for Kenyan designers and models, both upcoming and established. The showcase line up this time was the best yet. With designers like Italy based Roselyn Ogonya (MOG Couture), Endy Mwema(Kokoto Creations), Shenu Hooda, Samuel Zebedayo (House of Zebedayo), Bertha Komba (Kasikana Collection), Sekina Mwaka (Semi Classic Designs), Akoth Bake(King Koth), Akoth Otieno (Olisa Crochet), Angela Achol Yak (Chuak) among others, this was a must attend.

This catchy red two-piece was definitely a masterpiece

The one designer that stood out however was Maureen Ogato with her bespoke women’s collection, Ogatonbo. Exhibiting exquisite style and elegance in her bright colored, unique and comfortable fabrics, she was definitely set to steal the show, eventually clinching the Designer of the Day award. The models also did impress, with Brad’s Fashion’s own Brian Robert (or should I mention The Only) hitting the runway and shining while at it.

All the models that graced the runway looked stunning and did an indisputably amazing job.

A touch of urban African

This show, themed ‘buy Kenyan build Kenya’, is more than enough proof of how much and fast the Kenyan fashion industry is growing. It has been featuring better talent by the year. The designs showcased in this edition were one of a kind with African, animal and other eye-catching prints incorporated really well.

Keeping up the support and appreciation of such local talent will definitely level up Kenya’s industry to the international fashion world, eventually. We’re headed there ~ a touch of Kenyan is a touch of African and that, is a touch of the world. Need I say how excited I am for the future of Kenyan talent? Are you too? I sure hope so.
